Kissing Cave in Sam Roi Yot, a hidden gem in Thailand’s national park

Khao Sam Roi Yot National Park is known for its impressive Phraya Nakhon Cave, the stunning Khao Daeng Viewpoint, its wide sandy beaches and the Bueng Bua Boardwalk at the Thung Sam Roi Yot Freshwater Marsh. But hidden within the park lies another gem that few people know about: the Kissing Cave, also called the Kissing Rocks Cave. This secluded spot is absolutely worth visiting if you’re exploring this part of Thailand.

Kissing Cave: rocks that appear to kiss

The Kissing Cave is tucked away deep within the dramatic karst landscape of Khao Sam Roi Yot. The cave gets its name, Kissing Rocks Cave, from the two rock formations at its entrance that, from a certain angle, appear to be gently touching; almost like they’re kissing.

This striking silhouette was formed over centuries of natural erosion, where wind and seawater gradually shaped the limestone into its current form. The cave itself isn’t very large, but it’s the setting that makes it truly special, especially in the early morning and late afternoon when the sun is low and the warm, soft light creates a magical atmosphere.

How to get to the Kissing Cave

To reach the Kissing Cave, you’ll need to take a boat. From Chomthong Pier (easy to find on Google Maps), small boats depart and take you on a scenic ride through a beautiful, marshy landscape surrounded by steep limestone cliffs before arriving at the cave. The trip takes about 20 minutes and along the way, you’ll enjoy breathtaking views of the karst mountains and the surrounding nature.

The Kissing Cave is still relatively unknown, which means it’s usually quiet on the water, giving you the feeling of discovering a secret spot. You don’t pay per person but per boat (cash only). We paid 600 THB for the boat, which fit four people.

How to get to Chomthong Pier

If you’re staying nearby and have a scooter, you can easily ride to Chomthong Pier, where the boats to the Kissing Cave depart. A rental car works just as well if you have one. We chose to hire a driver for the day to take us to several places around Sam Roi Yot, which was very convenient and relaxed. If you only want to visit the Kissing Cave, you can also book a one-way ride using apps like Grab or Bolt, a simple and hassle-free option.
